I'm loving how our customers are going completely nuts over their birthday cakes. As we bake and decorate each cake to order, it's literally creating a dreamcake each time. The madder, the better! When you're placing your next birthday cake order, do let us know of a little message to write on a chocolate plaque - personalised birthday cakes are THE BEST KIND!
Here are five of my favourite birthday cakes as of late:
This dinky little Matcha Green Tea and chocolate cake is a little bit sexy, no? It was for a matcha-loving lady's 30th birthday party at Beach Blanket Babylon Notting Hill and was made of chocolate sponge layers, Japanese matcha Swiss meringue buttercream, Death by Chocolate and Muchly Matcha macarons, and matcha glazed baked buttermilk doughnuts. Packed with SO MUCH OOMPH that it's got the funniest feedback I've ever heard about any of our cakes, "Haaaaa oh my god! I wouldn't know whether to eat it or have sex with it". #LOL
The cheeky cherubs at Anges love it so much that we've added it to our ready-to-order cake collection!
The Homer Simpson cake just makes me smile so much. Stashed with sticky toffee popcorn, crushed meringues and chocolate glazed baked buttermilk doughnuts and sprinkles, it looks just as awesome in a cute 6" size for Lara's birthday, as it does in a full blown three-tiered wedding cake size!
8" Baby blue cookies and cream cake with Swiss meringue buttercream, heaps of crushed oreos, chocolate glazed baked buttermilk doughnuts and white and milk chocolate cookies and cream shards, Carlos' Doughnut Cookie Monster Birthday Cake is one cool dude. I also like how the chocolate shards look like shark fins, hah!
BFFs Eleanor and Zoe had two two-tiered crazy, kooky, colourful birthday cakes packed full with tasty treats for their joint birthday party! Eleanor's was a custom cookies & cream cake with chocolate shards and colourful macarons, and Zoe's was a gluten-free beauty with white chocolate raspberry shards, crushed meringues and macarons. That party could really only have been FUN!
I've saved me fave for last as this one was for one of our dearest customers, Sophia, who has a pet hamster named 'Macaron' after our shop! Sophia's a cool chick with a wicked sense of humour and it really shows in her cakey extravaganza, complete with gluten-free sponge (for her), macarons, marshmallows, Rolos, Maltesers, Cornish fudge, popcorn, M&Ms and chocolate glazed baked buttermilk doughnuts (for her buddies!). Phew, that was, quite literally, a mouthful.
What would you love on the birthday cake of your dreams? Let us know - I'd love to make it happen one day!
