Paw Patrol Extravaganza: A Two-Tiered Adventure with Chase, Marshall, Rubble, Skye, and Chickaletta!

My son X-Ray went through an impressively long Paw Patrol phase. Personally, I’ve always felt Chase gets far too much screen time for someone who delegates so much — I’m firmly Team Marshall-and-Rubble, the real workhorses of Adventure Bay. But children are mysterious creatures, and X-Ray adored Chase with unwavering devotion.

His own Paw Patrol birthday cake featured Chase front and centre, of course. But one of our lovely Leatherhead customers (yes — our bakery happily delivers to Surrey and to Leatherhead) went gloriously all-in and asked for every favourite pup to join Chase on a two-tiered birthday cake. A full canine ensemble.

We hand-modelled the pups from fondant — Chase, Marshall, Rubble and Skye — each turned into a sweet little edible sculpture. They’re such fun to make because their cartoonish proportions translate beautifully into sugar.

I’ve always liked the Paw Patrol logo, so I cut it from fondant for a proper 3D lift rather than resorting to printed icing sheets. It makes the whole cake feel more crafted, less “press print and pray”.

And then — the best bit — we added Chickaletta. She’s such an underrated little chicken, and slipping her onto a Paw Patrol themed cake always gets a laugh. Kids spot her and immediately lose their minds. As a cake designer, those moments of mischief give me life.

The cake itself was made with our beloved vanilla Hero sponge and Swiss meringue buttercream, tinted in natural, red, blue and yellow. Soft, smooth, and perfectly pipable.

Once the tiers were dowelled and stacked, I carved little “stations” into the buttercream so each pup could nestle in rather than looking slapped on. It gives the cake an almost cinematic feel — like each character is properly placed in their own scene. As a final touch, I made a few tiny “pup treats” to sprinkle around.

But truly? Chickaletta is what makes this cake for me. A small chicken with main-character energy.

If you’ve got a Paw Patrol fan at home, we’d love to bring their dream cake to life — pups, chicken and all. Our children’s novelty cakes are always handmade with love (and occasionally a dash of poultry-based humour).
