I wanted this cake to feel like an underwater fantasy without becoming too obvious or overly themed, because the sea is magical for everyone, not just the people cake marketing usually points mermaids at. The design keeps that sense of discovery with ocean-blue ombré buttercream, vanilla macaron clam shells, chocolate pearls, Maltesers and sea-green chocolate shards, all built around soft vanilla bean sponge and silky Swiss meringue buttercream for a cake that feels dreamy, coastal and quietly full of treasure.
