Christmas Cake Ideas For A Proper Festive Centrepiece

A Christmas cake can be traditional, chocolate-heavy, snowy and elegant, or cheerfully ridiculous. The right choice depends on the gathering, the number of guests and whether the cake needs to sit quietly beside the pudding or arrive like it owns the dining room.

Our seasonal range changes each year, so the current Christmas cake collection is the place to check live designs, sizes and availability. The ideas below are evergreen starting points, including a few past Anges de Sucre designs that remain useful inspiration.

1. Christmas Tree And Winter Forest Cakes

Tree-shaped cakes, piped fir textures, snow-dusted branches and restrained gold details work beautifully for family lunches and office parties. They read as unmistakably festive without needing plastic decorations or an edible Father Christmas waving from the top.

2. Snowy Lodge And Alpine Cakes

A ski lodge, snowy chalet or winter mountain cake suits an alpine dinner, a December birthday or anyone who regards après-ski as a personality. Chocolate houses, snowy buttercream and evergreen details create a full winter scene without relying on traditional fruit cake.

3. Chocolate Yule Logs And Chocolate Celebration Cakes

A yule log is the obvious route for chocolate devotees, but the idea can extend into tall chocolate cakes, ganache finishes, praline, hazelnut, cherries or salted caramel. It is familiar enough for Christmas and still behaves like a proper celebration cake.

4. Playful Santa, Reindeer And Novelty Cakes

Novelty Christmas cakes work best when the joke is clear and the cake underneath is taken seriously. Santa, reindeer, baubles, turkeys and overdecorated festive tables can all become brilliant party cakes, particularly for children, offices and families who have had enough of tasteful beige Christmas styling.

5. Croquembouche And Tall Festive Centrepieces

For a larger gathering, a croquembouche or tall multi-part centrepiece brings height and theatre. Doughnuts, profiteroles, gingerbread, chocolate, macarons and festive decorations can be composed around one structure, but scale, venue access and setup need to be considered before the design is approved.

6. Traditional Fruit Cake Or Modern Sponge?

Traditional Christmas fruit cake remains useful when you want deep spice, dried fruit and a cake that can be prepared well ahead. Modern sponge cakes offer lighter textures and a wider range of flavours, including chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, coffee and fruit-led fillings. Neither is automatically more festive; the correct answer is the one your guests will actually eat.

7. Christmas Cakes For Offices And Events

Office cakes need practical portions, a reliable delivery plan and decoration that works in photographs without becoming branded merchandise. An existing festive design can carry a short message, while a company logo, campaign theme or materially adapted design belongs in the custom route. Large launches and installations may require a bespoke brief.

Personalised, Custom Or Bespoke Christmas Cake?

Personalised

An existing festive design with a name, date, initials, supplied photo print or short plaque message.

Custom

An existing design materially adapted with logos, figures, portraits, company colours, themes or hand-modelled details.

Bespoke

A blank-page commission planned around the event, venue, guest count, structure and original concept.

Product Options

Offered choices of size, flavour or colour are options within the existing design, not bespoke work.

Ordering And Christmas Delivery

Christmas capacity is finite, and seasonal designs, delivery dates and final order cut-offs can change. Check the live collection and checkout rather than relying on an old article, screenshot or price. Standard Anges de Sucre delivery runs on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday in an untimed 09:00–17:00 window across eligible London and Surrey postcodes. Most cakes usually require at least 48 hours’ notice, but ordering earlier is sensible during December.

  • Choose the cake size from the number of guests, not optimism.
  • Confirm the delivery postcode and date before planning the rest of the table.
  • Use a short plaque for straightforward personalisation.
  • Allow more notice for figurines, logos, specialist toppers and structural work.
  • For fixed lunch times, consider delivery on an earlier available date and store the cake correctly.
