Custom Matilda Themed Birthday Cake

The Cake Itself

The cake was built around a blue finish, nodding to Matilda’s dress, with a chocolate drip and cascading alphabet letters to echo the stage design. Tiny sugar paste books added colour, movement and a sense of story.

The design needed to feel unmistakably Matilda-inspired, but not overloaded. A few strong references are usually better than trying to include every scene, prop and character.

The Chocolate Cake Detail

No Matilda cake could ignore the Bruce Bogtrotter chocolate cake moment. For this design, a petite 3 inch triple-layer chocolate sponge was iced in deliberately rustic chocolate buttercream.

Custom, Not Bespoke

This cake sits in custom birthday cake territory. It was a story-led theme interpreted through colour, sugar paste books, alphabet letters and a miniature chocolate cake detail.

A simple name, age or plaque would be personalisation. A blank-page private commission built from scratch around an entirely original concept, venue, structure, flavour and guest count would be bespoke.
