Recommended Venues in Kew

Kew is predominantly a residential area, except for one of London’s greatest attractions - Kew Gardens. Whilst it is a quieter area, in comparison to its neighbours Richmond and Chiswick, there are some charming pubs and stunning venues to host special celebrations. With cake of course!

Where to EAT YOUR BIRTHDAY CAKE in Kew

Kew hasn’t got a particularly trendy restaurant scene but they do have some lovely local restaurants and charming family friendly pubs.

Recommended Restaurants for Birthdays and Celebrations in Kew

The Botanical Brasserie - If planning a fancy lunch, you can’t go wrong with the Botanical Brasserie set within the gorgeous grounds of Kew Gardens. In any case, it would have to be lunch here as they aren’t open for dinner service.

Chatora - We’re not sure if this restaurant is technically in Richmond, or Kew, but it’s near enough to both, and is on Kew Road. It’s one of the very few, really good, high-end Indian restaurants in the area. This isn’t your standard ‘balti house’ type of place. It’s fancy, with a great wine list and fantastic Indian cuisine that is of the same standard as the top-end of Indian restaurants in Central London. Which isn’t surprising as it was founded by the ex-chef of Trishna.

Rock & Rose - Flamboyant, and kitsch, with fun cocktails, this restaurant and bar is perfect for a glam-girls-night-out. It also has private dining spaces for celebrations.

Recommended Gastro Pubs for Birthdays and Celebrations in Kew

The Grey Hound - Famed for their family-style Sunday roasts, this beautiful pub has prime location with views of Kew Green and is ideal for family birthday celebrations and one of our cakes! Also has a lovely beer garden for the warmer months.

The Cricketers - This is another beautiful traditional pub with enviable views of the Green. Wooden beams, cosy nooks, this pub can get lively when the sports are on. Great for groups and families celebrating.

Tap on the Line - I have to mention this pub because it is such an anomaly. It’s the ONLY pub that’s right next to a busy London tube stop that’s NOT awful. In fact, it’s fab. It’s got a neat outdoor courtyard, and has a jovial atmosphere.

Where to Eat your Wedding Cake in Kew

Kew Gardens - The top choice for a wedding venue is hands down, Kew Gardens. Not only do you have the massive and stunning grounds, but there are different venues to suit all types of weddings. Cambridge Cottage is popular for smaller and intimate weddings (our tiddly 2 Tier cakes would be a perfect match) and the grandiose Nash Conservatory is popular for larger classic weddings. I’ll always have a soft spot for Kew Gardens as it was the first venue we ever delivered a wedding cake to all the way back in 2012. And we still do.

Venues for Children Parties & Cake in Kew

Ceramics Cafe - This is a cute pottery studio that hires out time slots for kids parties on weekends. They’ll be given ceramic paints to decorate their own objects for home. You’d have to bring your own food (one of our cakes!) and drink, packaged in individual party boxes for each child, and we’ll sort you out with the cake!

ARRIVED EARLY? THINGS TO DO

If you’ve arrived early, have a mooch around Kew Green and pop into any of the cute pubs for a cheeky drink..

WHERE TO GO FOR AFTER DINNER DRINKS?

The Petal Pusher - We’ve already mentioned Kew is quiet. But if you fancied a drink in nice surroundings and interiors, The Petal Pusher is a wine bar that also does small sharing tapas plates, open on Fridays and Saturdays until 23:00. It's the perfect place to cut your cake with a good glass of vino. It’s a florist shop during the week and is owned by a DJ who spins banging lounge sounds on the weekends.
