This bespoke Bumblebee birthday cake was commissioned for a young Transformers fan whose brief was simple: bold, yellow, dynamic — and absolutely unmistakable. Created in our Surrey bakery and delivered to the customer’s home in London, it’s a perfect example of how we approach themed cakes with imagination rather than imitation.

We love a theme. We love a strong brief. And we especially love when clients send us inspiration images via WhatsApp so we can understand the mood they’re after. But here’s the important bit — we don’t copy cakes.

Food-Safe, Always

You may have noticed a growing trend for decorating cakes with plastic or polystyrene spheres. While visually striking, those materials are not food-safe when in contact with cake. We never use non-edible decorations directly on our cakes.

Instead, we create hand-crafted chocolate spheres — glossy, vibrant, entirely edible and, importantly, delicious.

A Mixed Media Celebration in Cake Form

This Transformers-inspired Bumblebee cake became something of a mixed-media piece. Beneath the design, layers of sponge and buttercream formed the structure. Across the surface, black edible ink splatter added motion and contrast — almost comic-book in energy.

A 2D fondant Bumblebee figurine provided graphic impact, while 3D fondant wheels finished with edible silver paint introduced dimension. Fondant lettering personalised the design with name and age, and the Bumblebee logo sat proudly at the centre. The final flourish? Yellow chocolate spheres that echoed the character’s bold colour palette and gave the whole design lift and movement.

The result felt dynamic, layered and full of personality — not just a themed cake, but a centrepiece designed to command attention at the table.
