[Updated 26/11/2023] Oh my, this heat wave is relentless isn’t it?? Like, I’d totally jump into a swamp to cool off even if it was full of crocodiles!

We do get many bespoke cake requests at Anges and while we don’t really do novelty, a lot of the times we can customise our designs and include hand modelled edible toppers to fit in with the customer’s theme. And boy do we get some funky themes hah!

Crocodiles was a first for us. Our lovely regular customer Rebecca wanted a birthday cake for her son’s second birthday in London. She chose our Oreo cookie sponge layers for the two tiers (6” & 8”) and we then thought to make an edible swamp. Now, I don’t know about you, but swamps aren’t particularly appetising, so we did have a bit of a challenge at hand to make the cake crocodiley-swampy but also delicious looking!  

A blue watercolour buttercream frosting finish with a stream of swampy-blue-green ganache running down the tiers and cookie crumb shrubs set the scene for our hand modelled fondant creepy crocodiles to lurk in. One’s lurking on the top and the other is creeping along the side of the second tier. 2 crocs, 2 tiers, for a special Happy 2nd Birthday.
