Apple Pie Cake

Apple pie has that wonderful ability to make everything feel warmer, so this cake takes the comfort of spiced apple, cinnamon, custard and buttery crumble and builds it into something more composed: moist apple sponge, silky custard Swiss meringue buttercream and pie crust crumb, all finished with the polish of a celebration cake but with the soul of a proper pudding.

Apple and Cinnamon Sponge: Wheat flour (gluten), eggs, vegetable oil (sunflower oil, rapeseed oil), milk, buttermilk (milk), sugar, apple, cinnamon, baking powder, vanilla extract.

Buttercream: Sugar, egg white, butter (milk), vanilla extract, salt.

Decorations

Custard: Reconstituted skimmed cows' milk powder, water, sugar, modified maize starch, palm oil, coconut oil, flavouring, stabiliser: sodium triphosphate; colours: beta-carotene, paprika extract
