Last month I (re-)invented a new thing. A cake sandwich. You know, those packet sandwiches you get in M&S and Pret, but instead of dry bread and uninspiring fillings, I sprinkled some cake magic on the whole thing. The result – the best cake sandwich in the world!

Who invented cake sandwiches?

Cake sandwiches have been made before - Queen Victoria was the OG with her eponymous Victoria Sponge cake. There have been novelty versions and basic buttercream 'n' jam versions too. But the reason my creation went viral was because it was more than simply slapping two sponges together. 

People have gone crazy for them. And it’s easy to see why. We introduced this craze to Instagram and Tik Tok, and the response was surprising. Overnight, we had so many orders through we sold out of sponge. We are so proud to be at the forefront of this cake trend, and to be producing what we know are the best cake sandwiches around.

We only use premium ingredients and are expert cake makers. We use silky smooth Swiss meringue buttercream to sandwich our slices of hero sponge cake together. It’s a tried-and-tested formula. Think light-as-air yet flavourful cake, combined with the best frosting you’ve ever tried.

We also add extras. We are extra and we love extras at Anges de Sucre. We’re talking Lindt Lindor truffles, the best hazelnut creme from M&S (we’ve also made this go viral and now it’s sold out everywhere – we’re victims of our own success here!), the brightest (and legal) Funfetti sprinkles you can get, Callebaut chocolate ganaches, French macarons – the list goes on.

Our cake sandwiches are a cut above the rest. There’s nothing soggy or limp about our product and you'll have a satisfying mouthful with each bite - soft, moist, gooey, silky and a delightfully secret crunchy filling.

What are cake sandwiches?

These amazing cake creations are hero sponge layers sandwiched together with buttercream. Depending on the flavour we also add extras such as sprinkles, biscuits and flavoured spreads. We then package them perfectly to retain them at their best – everything is sealed. Then they’re ready to post. Surely this is what Friday lunches were made for?!
