Lemon Cake at Richmond Park Picnic

It‘s been a few months off social media for me as we’ve been squirrelling away behind the scenes on something big. Lol, nope we aren’t opening a flagship store in the old Topshop on Oxford Street - I’m not narcissistic enough to think I could make something work on the high street that even Philip Green couldn’t, or that I could buck the retail trend. Also, kind of been there, kind of done that! We’re an online London cake delivery e-commerce business through and through, so we’re working on sprucing things up around here. We’re making this website the coolest website we’ve ever had with lots of beautiful new styling and cake designs...I can’t wait to show you!

Thing is, I took a break from social media to focus, and I don’t want to go back. There are numerous reasons really. I was bored of the content and was boring myself with my own content. Plus, my lack of posting didn’t have any negative impact on the business. I was able to increase our birthday cake orders with the freed up time and also re-vamping cake designs, like our all-new and improved Lemon Sunshine Cake.

Lemon Cake - Richmond

On a personal level, I found myself experiencing real life more, even in lockdown. I am watching movies and enjoying them again without breaking my concentration with random scrolling. I’ve really gotten into shark movies - The Meg, The Shallows, even a 90s vintage, Deep Blue Sea, had me gripped. And I’m loving having a picnic for no other reason other than just because, and digging straight in rather than faffing for the perfect ‘gram.

Also, trolls and blaggers are lazy. I’d much rather spill my thoughts here, on this blog, like I used to, safe in the knowledge that trolls won’t be as bothered to send their hate here and blaggers can’t slide into DMs. Would you believe it...ever since I went quiet on social media, I haven’t actually had any free cake requests! Go figure.

Picnic with Cake in Richmond

Social media seems like fast food to me - cheap, quick, full of rubbish, doesn’t make me feel great. But I do crave it once a month so will probably post once a month to dip my toes in before I turn into a dinosaur.

Anyway, back to me loving picnics. We had a cute little one with our newly improved lemon and raspberry cake delivered to Richmond, washing it down with lemonade and daiquiris.

A fancy picnic doesn’t have to involve faff. All you need is a picnic blanket, some balloons, a few extra touches like paper straws for drinks and wooden cutlery, fresh fruit garnishes, and a bling cake on a log cake plate.Cake in Richmond

Even as lockdown slowly lifts, I can’t think of many better ways to spend a lovely afternoon out than eating cake and quaffing cocktails in the Richmond.

Lots of love.

Reshmi xoxo

Loved reading this blog! Cutting the distraction of Instagram can be a great thing mentally. Some of the Trolling you received was (in my opinion) excessive and offensive, so eliminating that negativity must have a positive impact on your mood and mindset.

I can’t lie and say I’m not a little disappointed there will be no flag ship opening 😜 but I will be perusing your website, when it’s ready, as I’m determined one day I will try one of your cakes!!

Haha! I fell for the flagship store!! I thought that was crazy big, but why not?!? Glad you’re ok! I planned to log out from Facebook for a month… And I haven’t missed it. I spend less time on my phone. I can focus more on the now. And I don’t end up getting angry at all the muppets out there, wasting my energy on negative vibes.

Good for you! Looking forward to see your beautiful creations!!

PS: I’m trying your chocolate/ matcha cake this weekend!!!

Great to see this blog post! Can you imagine having another shop. I had one for 4 years – 4 years of my life I will NEVER get back and 4 years of my life I didn’t have even a minute to think about having a picnic. Onwards and upwards. Enjoy those cocktails. Much love xx

Reshmi, I have missed you dearly. I checked your website yesterday to see if you were taking orders and thus I could conclude you were alive. Proper chuffed. Sending lots of love to you, this picnic (and cake obv) looks bangin!
